Abstract:

alpha-Bromo-beta-fluoroalkyl-alpha,beta-enones react with sodium methoxide in methanol to give the corresponding beta-fluoroalkyl-beta,beta-dimethoxy ketones which eliminate methanol molecule to produce a mixture of E/Z-isomeric beta-fluoroalkyl-beta-methoxyvinyl ketones, the Z isomer prevailing.
