Abstract:
The solid solutions Sr2Gd6.8Eu1.2Si6(1-x)P6xO26-delta (where x=0-0.15 and delta is oxygen nonstoichiometry) were synthesized. The structural properties of the crystal lattice of the solid solutions and the peculiarities of Eu3+ and P5+ dopants substitution for matrix ions have been considered. The photo-, X-ray and pulsed cathode luminescence properties have been studied. It has been found that substitution of (SiO4)(4-) by (PO4)(3-) tetrahedron in Eu3+-doped oxyapatites does not bring significant changes to bands structure Eu3+ in luminescence spectra under different excitation (UV, X-ray, pulse cathode beam). However, the increase of P5+ concentration in Sr2Gd6.8Eu1.2Si6(1-x)P6xO26-delta compounds leads to a decrease of integral intensity of Eu3+ luminescence bands due to local environment symmetry modifications and covalency degree changes. Two nonequivalent optical Eu3+ centers have been found. These compounds are of interest for efficient X-ray phosphors, display devices and LED engineering material creation. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V.
