Abstract:
This paper considers the role that businesses can play in stimulating fertility in the country-a significant issue in light of depopulation and low birth rates. A pregnancy and parenting support program at a large metallurgical enterprise is used as a case study to show how Russian businesses can help address demographic problems through socially responsible management. A survey of staff at a large metallurgical enterprise showed that the social policy of company strongly affects decisions about childbirth. To expand such practices, the authors suggest introducing programs aimed at stimulating childbirth into training courses for entrepreneurs.
