Abstract:
An efficient algorithm for solving the inverse gravity problem of finding a variable density in a horizontal layer using gravitational data is constructed. After the discretization and approximation, the problem reduces to solving a system of linear algebraic equations. The idea of this algorithm is based on exploiting the block-Toeplitz structure of coefficients matrix. Utilizing this algorithm drastically reduces the memory usage, as well as the computation time. The algorithm was parallelized and implemented using the Uran supercomputer. A model problem with synthetic gravitational data was solved. © 2016 Author(s).
