Mathematics Day in Russia
____

On the calendar is the 1st of April. On that day many countries celebrate the International April Fool’s Day. But besides, on the same day Russian mathematicians celebrate their professional holiday which arose on the initiative of the Russian students. Many universities in the country host educational and extracurricular activities for that occasion.

Traditionally, the Mathematicians Day is celebrated in the Ural Federal University by students and professors of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, where not only Olympiads, seminars and conferences are organized, but also the famous “Bardak” ("Mess"), which includes games, contests and even a night quest. Throughout April, students hold various events at departments and in classrooms: theatrical skit, intellectual battles, themed evenings with screenings of well-loved movies, and a mini-football tournament with their professors. Entertaining events bring more bright colors to the educational life and allow the realization of the most daring creative ideas.

The Ural Federal University Library congratulates everyone involved with their professional holiday and invites you to get acquainted with a wide variety of resources on mathematical sciences. From them you will be able to get information about mathematical scientific education in various countries and study current research in mathematics.

On the “Dostupnaya nauka” (Accessible Science) public page on VKontakte, the library staff has prepared a selection of the most interesting and unique specialized journals from the library collection. In addition to periodicals, the library offers classical and modern works on mathematics in the form of monographs, collections, textbooks and teaching aids published in Russian and foreign languages (you can check their availability at circulation desks and in reading rooms in the Library electronic catalogue).
