The new exposition “Around Art” displayed in the Library Exhibition Room (4 Turgeneva St., room 267) opens the cycle of activities “Book-tour over Yekaterinburg”. This exposition is a guide to the city cultural life embodied in books, photographs and paintings.

The exhibits give insight into the city’s culture including imposing architectural monuments, theatres and museums, outstanding cultural figures and artists who have made great contributions into preserving artistic image of Sverdlovsk-Yekaterinburg. Books contain many historical photographs reflecting the city’s atmosphere of the 18th – 21st centuries. Open access to the books on display allows looking through picturesque albums of remarkable painters and graphic artists, exhibition catalogues of the city museums, fascinating books about life and work of famous musicians, composers and film directors from Yekaterinburg. One of the exhibition sections is devoted to Vitaliy Volovich, a legendary Soviet and Russian painter who lived virtually his whole life in Yekaterinburg and loved it very much.

The city inspires many Ural artists no matter what techniques and trends they use. The exposition is brilliantly supplemented by the creativities featuring the diversity of the urban landscape. Representatives of the Department of Cultural Studies and Design of the Ural Federal University take part in the exhibition. Their works are made in different techniques, such as graphics, watercolours, oil, acrylic, and rolling.

The exposition will be open until the end of January 2023. Its opening hours are from Monday to Friday 9:00 AM¬5:00 PM. Any questions concerning the exhibition can be addressed to our experienced librarians.

Next year Yekaterinburg will celebrate its 300th anniversary. We are preparing many interesting things to mark it. Follow our news!
