The Winter… Students are Triumphing!
____

In the midst of the winter examination session Russian students postpone for a while their textbooks and celebrate their chief holiday ¬ Russian Students Day, or Tatiana Day named after Saint Tatiana to whom students have been lighting candles and praying for help in study up to this day.

History and traditions of the student’s holiday goes back to the 18th century. In January 1755 empress Elizabeth signed a decree for the establishment of the Moscow State University. At that time actually all the population of the capital took part in festive activities. Only in Nicholas I reign students all over Russia joined the holiday. In 2005 it was announced an official holiday of the Russian Federation.

This bright fest has always been celebrated in Ural Federal University. In 2023 on the announced day of students’ government, meetings with Vice-Rectors, many activities and surprises are being awaited. On this day UrFU students receive festive gifts, and all Tatianas entering University are gifted flowers. Every institute has its own traditions and activities.

The studentship is an amazing time when you are able to do everything ¬ to comprehend sciences, work, make friends, fall in love, and have fun. Library congratulates all the students with their holiday and invite to visit Library and get acquainted with its resources and services.
