The All-Russian Library Day is celebrated on the 27th of May. The decree about its celebration was signed by the president Boris Yeltsin in 1995. The chosen date wasn’t accidental: on the 27th of May the Imperial Public Library (now: The Russian National Library) was founded. It was the first in Russia accessible to everyone.

Libraries are not falling behind the progress of the contemporary society in the digital era, combining innovational and traditional forms of work and keeping the magnificent “bookish” atmosphere. Currently, printed publications are more and more fading into the background, leaving the place for the digital analogues, but many libraries remain something much more than just places for storing paper books. For example, in our Library you can read digital versions of books and journals in different subscribed and university’s electronic resources.
