In the year of the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg, we decided to introduce you to the most amazing and significant places of the city. The Library offers to your attention a series of summer posts – "Top-10 sights of Yekaterinburg and its environs that foreigners should see".

The first place which we recommend for guests of the Ural capital is the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center, which is named after the first president of Russian Federation just as our university. In our country it is the only center for the preservation of the historical heritage of the president who left his office. The Presidential Center, or Yeltsin Center, is a multifunctional cultural and educational complex with a large interactive museum telling about the activities of Boris Yeltsin as head of state. Besides the museum there is, for instance, a "Newton Park" which can also attract the attention of students. "Newton Park" is an amusement park and at the same time an interactive science museum for adults and children, in which there are about a hundred exhibits, including unusual devices and mechanisms, each of which demonstrates the action of the laws of physics or chemistry in an interesting way. All exhibition materials and devices are allowed to be touched and even tested according to the instructions. You can spend a whole day in the Yeltsin Center, visit a bookstore, an art gallery, there are many important for Yekaterinburg cultural events, festivals, concerts, lectures.

If you are interested in the topic of the activities of the first president of Russia, we recommend you to deepen your knowledge about him by referring to the book of his memoirs – "The Struggle for Russia" («Записки президента»). The book is presented in Russian language in the Library's collection. You can check the availability of the book on subscriptions and in reading rooms in the electronic catalog.

For those guests of the Ural capital who can't wait to find out about the best places to walk around the city, we recommend going on an independent tour of the tourist "Red Line of Yekaterinburg". It will introduce you to the main sights of the historical center of the city right now! Thanks to the app izi.TRAVEL a convenient audio guide around the city in Russian language will accompany and supplement your tour with useful information.
