Do you already feel the coming of spring? And with it the soon approaching of the most tender holiday, filled with love and beauty, International Women's Day, March 8. For this day the staff of the Circulation Desk of foreign literature of UrFU Library (4 Turgeneva St., room 356) has prepared for you a new exhibition "The power of woman".
But we should not forget the original history of the holiday, the opposite of its current conceptions: how in the past women from all over the world, including Russia, actively campaigned for their rights. Thanks to their strength and courage, women nowadays have different opportunities for professional development and career growth.
In Russia, the history of celebrating March 8 dates back to 1913 and has gone through many landmark events in which intrepid Russian women took part.
The exposition presents books devoted to different aspects of women's life: publications about social and human rights of women in different countries, about mental and physical health of women, as well as works of fiction, the main characters of which are known to everyone and each is unique in her own way.
The Library cordially congratulates the holiday of Spring and invites all foreign language readers to visit the exhibition until the end of March.
