On March 21, the world celebrates the International Day of Dolls Theater, or International Dolls Day. The holiday was established in 2002 at the meeting of the International Union of Dolls Theater Artists (UNIMA) on the initiative of the famous figure of Iranian dolls theater Jivado Zolfagariho. Since then, artists working with dolls and dolls masters have been celebrating their professional holiday on this day.

Dolls theater is a mesmerizing spectacle, a fairy tale, magic that brings delight not only to a child, but also to an adult. The way the dolls are controlled is the main distinguishing mark of such a theater. Every spectator realizes that the success of the performance depends on the skill of the dolls artists and their ability to bring the dolls to life on stage. Modern productions use a variety of technologies - animation, video effects, 3D transformations. But the main thing is still the kind stories that unfold in front of the audience.

The history of dolls theaters dates back many centuries. The origins of this skill are found in ancient pagan rituals. For example, dolls took part in ritual mysteries in ancient Egypt. In Russia Dolls art came in the first half of the 17th century. In the Soviet years, dolls makers were professionally trained in the workshop of the legendary actor and dolls theater director Sergei Obraztsov. The dolls theater he founded in Moscow is the largest not only in Russia and Eastern Europe, but also worldwide.
