Library continues to introduce you to interesting books dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Sverdlovsk oblast.

We asked the students being in March in translation practice in the Library to tell about their favourite places in Sverdlovsk oblast and recommend books about these places.

Today we want to present you the
book by Pikhoya R. G. “President of the Russian Federation Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin” reviewed by 2nd-year student of Linguistics Kasim Mustafa Taer.

A significant part of Boris Yeltsin’s life, was in Yekaterinburg. He spent much of his early adulthood and begun his political career. In the heart of this city, stands the Yeltsin Center as a testament to the legacy of Yeltsin, the first Russian president.

In 2015, at a pivotal moment in Russian history, Yeltsin Center was built. As Russia struggled with its new post-Soviet identity and faced the complexities of its political and social situation, during this time the Yeltsin center came as a symbol of openness and transparency, aimed to preserving the memory of Yeltsin's presidency and promoting democratic.

Yeltsin Center is not just a museum or memorial; it is a cultural institution that has a multifaceted mission. The center seeks to preserve history through its exhibitions, educational programs and public events, where it includes a big collection of artifacts, documents, and multimedia displays which chronicle the life of Boris Yeltsin.

In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Yeltsin center serves as a platform for dialogue and discussion on important social, political, and cultural issues. The center encourages open and inclusive conversations among citizens, scholars, and policymakers through lectures, panel discussions, and workshops. Nurturing the next generation of leaders is one of Yeltsin Center's missions. The center helps young people to become active and engaged, capable of making positive change in their communities through educational programs and outreach initiatives.

Since it was opened, the Yeltsin Center has had a deep impact on the city of Yekaterinburg. It has become a popular destination for tourists, scholars, and local residents too, it’s been attracting visitors from all across Russia and around the world.

The book by Pikhoya R. G. “President of the Russian Federation Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin” is a journey through Boris Yeltsin’s life, one of the most enigmatic Russian leaders. The author in this biography tries to draw a picture of Yeltsin's life, highlighting the complexity of his character and the changes he made in Russia, reviewing his childhood and his early life, overviewing the important dates in the life of the first Russian president Yeltsin.

One of the book's strengths is exploration of Yeltsin's leadership style and his vision for Russia's future. Skillfully and quickly, the author navigates through the complexities of Yeltsin's presidency, from the highs of democratic reforms to the lows of economic turmoil and political instability. The readers gain insights – through the author's lens – into the challenges Yeltsin faced in steering Russia toward democracy and market capitalism in the middle of strong opposition and internal conflict.
