There is a vital question – where should young authors publish their papers today? In fact, no one is prohibited to admit a paper to a journal indexed in Web of Science or Scopus, even be it on the top of Q1. However, there is a rapid growth of several national Russian rankings. Today we’d like to clarify the difference between РИНЦ or Science Index, RSCI and the eLIBRARY as many regard them identical. First and foremost, the Scientific electronic library eLIBRARY is the largest Russian portal containing a great number of full texts and abstracts of academic publications and patents including Russian electronic peer-reviewed journals, around 7,000 of them being in open access. The resource had gained essential importance for the academic society because it is not just a collection of texts but it is a platform supported by powerful bibliometric projects. These are Russian Science Citation Index traditionally abbreviated by the Russian letters РИНЦ, or Science Index and one more Russian Science Citation Index abbreviated as RSCI (avoid confusion). РИНЦ is a national scientometric database accumulating publications and their citation index from 6,000+ Russian journals. Its analytical instrument Science Index evaluates and compare articles, journals. authors, affiliations basing on such scientometric indicators as citation index, h-index, impact-factor. RSCI is a database aimed at highlighting the most prestigious Russian academic journals. Once it was a joint project of eLIBRARY and Clarivate Analytical to arrange “a Russian Shelf” on Web of Science. Now RSCI is available on the eLIBRARY platform. It includes 944 authoritative Russian journals. Please, note that working with these platforms requires to create your personal profile. Unfortunately, there is only Russian version of the eLIBRARY site. Author&Translator: Natalia Krasnogor |
