We will not talk about food (dumplings), but about the famous humorist collective from Yekaterinburg. The Library continues to introduce you to the brands and symbols of the Sverdlovsk region, which create a unique image of the region for tourists and visitors. Today we will tell you about the team «Ural Pelmeni», which made the Urals famous in 2000, when it became the champion of the Supreme League of the popular in Russia humorous TV KVN game – Club of the Funny and Inventive. The collective was created more than 30 years ago by Dmitry Sokolov, a student of the chemical engineering faculty of the Ural Polytechnic University (now the Ural Federal University). It consisted of students from various construction teams of the University. «Ural Pelmeni» have been popular till nowadays. Since 2009, they changed their role and began to perform as an independent creative collective, presenting their own eponymous comedy show on the popular Russian TV channel «STS». «Ural Pelmeni» repertoire includes pop miniatures and musical numbers, and sometimes guest celebrities also take part in the show. Each of the team members has their own unique talent and sparkling humor. The humor of «Ural Pelmeni» was highly appreciated by the Academy of Russian Television Foundation, thanks to which the team received the prestige international TV award TEFI-Commonwealth. In the summer of 2013, Forbes, a well-known financial and economic magazine, included «Ural Pelmeni» in the rating of «50 top Russian celebrities». Ural Federal University has a great legacy and history. You can learn more about its famous graduates and their successes in various fields at the Ural Federal Museum and Exhibition Complex, where the present, past and future of the university are closely intertwined.
