Circulation Desk of Foreign Literature of the University Library (4 Turgeneva St., room 356) presents a new exhibition dedicated to the historical sciences. You can pick up a book in English, German or French. The themes of the exhibition cover several time periods – the ancient world, the Middle Ages and the modern times.
For example, the book by author T. M. Devine «The Scottish Nation» presents great analysis of Scotland. From high politics to everyday life, «The Scottish Nation» is the most readable modern history of Scotland at home and abroad: vital to understanding an ancient nation at a crucial time.
The book «Facing Japan» by Parks M. Coble is equally informative. In it one can read about the clashes and further outbreak of war between Japan and China. Japanese imperialism relentlessly besieged nationalist China. And how this relationship between the countries developed you can read in the book.
In addition to books about the history of different countries, the exhibition also presents editions about important historical characters. For example, the author Christopher Haigh in his book «Elizabeth 1» describes the reign of the Queen, which was one of the most important periods of expansion and growth in British history, the so-called «Golden Age». This celebrated and influential study helps to provide a deeper understanding of Elizabeth's own personality and the way in which she exercised her power, which helped to bring about the flourishing of the British Empire.
All the books presented in the exposition are unique and interesting. You can pick up English, French, Italian or German editions and read them in the reading room or at home.
The exhibition will run until 1 December.
