On February 14, a seminar for international postgraduates and master students “Information Potential of the University Library” was held in the bounds of Science Days in UrFU Library.

A particular attention was focused on scientific databases available by the subscription of our University. Since Friday we have received already many questions, especially concerning access to these databases. Though it was many times emphasized that the databases are available only within UrFU network, several peoples tried to work remotely from their phones’ mobile network, and asked why they failed to access the resources. In view of this, there are several points that should be reminded and highlighted (and we ask you to remember and follow them strictly):

• access to all the international databases is possible only within UrFU corporate network (including Wi-Fi in dorms), but no remote access;
• do not search a database on the Internet, but only on the Library website, URL: http://lib.urfu.ru/mod/data/view.php?id=2802 (see the QR code on the picture): English version of the site → the tab “UrFU Electronic Resources” → in the special table make a query for a certain database or topic → follow to the DB, search there for the accessible articles, download them.

NOTE: The information we receive about subscription and access to each DB may be somewhat delayed. Thus, a database can be already unavailable, though the information on the site has not been timely changed. We apologize for this possible inconvenience, but it is not we to blame.

And one more significant note: all the databases available within UrFU subscription are aggregated by the world’s oldest and most influential publishing houses. They contain full-text peer-reviewed academic journals with high impact-factors, indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and other authoritative databases. So, without Scopus and WoS you can perform a high-rate research.

If you have any questions, boldly ask them in this Telegram channel, in our VK group “Accessible science” or in person in Information Centre of Library Resources (19 Mira St., room Б-202).
