Russia and China are countries with rich histories and cultures. They have a lot in common, yet they seem so different. At first look, they are, but still, if you draw parallels, you will find a lot of similarities. The circulation desk of Foreign Literature (4 Turgeneva St., room 356) presents a new exhibition “Year of Russia-China Culture”, which invites you, the readers, to learn more about these countries, to conduct your own research and to highlight the similarities between the two countries or, on the opposite, their differences.

The exhibition offers books and magazines in English, Russian, German, French and, of course, Chinese.

If you are studying Chinese, we advise you to pay attention to dictionaries that will definitely be useful to you. For example, a unique Chinese-Russian dictionary on the four-digit system by German Dudchenko. The dictionary contains over 25 thousand lexical units of the Chinese language.

We also recommend that you pay attention to the fiction editions. In his collection of poems, Li Yamei presents 50 contemporary poems by Chinese authors. He reveals the ideology and artistic characteristics of Chinese poetry. “The Romance of the Three Kingdoms” is a historical novel set in the fourteenth century, whose author is considered to be Luo Guanzhong. The novel tells the story of events unfolding during the period of chaos and change at the decline of the Han Dynasty and during the Three Kingdoms era in Chinese history. This period spans more than 100 years, from 169 AD to the reunification of the land under the Western Jin state in 280 AD.

In addition to the above, the selection includes works about Russia and China in the fields of history, art, politics, culture, earth science and even photography.

The exhibition will be on circulation desk from February to March, we look forward to seeing you!
