In the beginning came the Word... With the help of words from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, our ancient ancestors passed on the accumulated knowledge. With the development of civilization, important information became more and more, it became more and more difficult to keep it in one's head, and it was necessary to solve this important issue somehow.
Writing was tried in ancient times! Sharp objects were used to scratch signs on stones, pieces of bark, clay tiles and boards. Until finally, some clever ancient Egyptian thought of using palm leaves for writing – papyrus. Then came parchment.
It wasn't until more than a thousand years later, during the Renaissance, that the process of copying text was greatly accelerated. First, people mastered the technique of wood engraving (the oldest prototype of the modern Xerox machine), and then came a world-changing event – the German Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press.
