Information Centre of Library Resources of UrFU Library (19 Mira St., Б-202) welcomes you to the newly opened Library retro-zone. Feel the atmosphere of the past with help of authentic furniture dated from the mid-twenty century. It includes two tables preserved from the furniture set designed specially for the Library reading rooms during the construction of the main building of the Ural Industrial Institute; two chairs and a restored working table lamp, an indispensable attribute of that time featured in many soviet movies. Library devices of “pre-computer” age are also on display, among them old-fashioned typewriter, abacus, counter of library attendance – a prototype of modern automated system, etc. The expositions are supposed to be periodically changed. Now the exhibition “Library on the Front Line” is demonstrated. It is devoted to the Library and librarian’s contribution to the Great Victory.
We invite you to our retro-zone! Take a seat at the table and travel back almost 100 years, feel yourself a reader of the Library of Ural Industrial Institute. Take wonderful photos in a vintage interior or use it as a working place. These tables can inspire unique scientific ideas, since dozens of dissertations were born at them!
The new retro-zone is one more creative step in designing the Library exposition space. Hope that with your help it will sparkle with new colours, add coziness, and bring new feelings of connection of times that the Ural Federal University has experienced over its century-long story.
