The Circulation desk of the foreign literature (4 Turgeneva St., room 356) invites you to the new exhibition «Architectural Monuments» dedicated to world-famous architectural monuments. The exhibition presents books about great structures of different eras and cultures: from the Great Wall of China to the Moscow Kremlin.

The exhibition will be of interest to students, researchers and anyone interested in history, architecture and art. Books in English, French, Spanish and other languages will help to study in more depth the construction features, cultural significance and amazing destinies of these structures.

For example, you will learn about the construction technologies that made it possible to create the Great Wall of China – the largest defensive structure in history, presented in the book «Wall of death» with unique illustrations; immerse yourself in the world of ancient Russian architecture through the prism of Novgorod churches and the Moscow Kremlin, described in the albums «Around the Kremlin» and «Novgorod.

Architectural landmarks»; discover the sophistication of the Italian Renaissance through the Russian-Italian album «Russkaja Florencija» (“Russian Florence”) about Russian architectural traces in Florence and be amazed by the boldness of modern architects, whose works are presented in the German publication «Architektur! Das 20. Jahrhundert».

The exhibition is especially valuable due to its multilingual nature – books in 5 languages demonstrate how different cultures perceive architectural heritage. For example, the book «The Faceted Chamber in the Moscow Kremlin» published in 1978 will introduce you to the secrets of the Palace of Facets, and the album «The fountains of Petrodvorets» will reveal the magnificence of the Petergof ensembles.

Dive into the world of architectural heritage and discover new facets of history! The exhibition is open from September to November.
