Then let us sing amid our cheer,
Old Christmas still comes once a year

On the night of December 24th to 25th, all Catholics around the world celebrated one of the most important Christian holidays – Christmas. On such a bright day, the Circulation Desk of Foreign Literature is eager to tell you about its probably favorite book dedicated to this magical time – "The Reader's Digest Book of Christmas".

The book introduces the reader to the history of the emergence of Christmas, from the prophecy of the birth of John the Baptist to the Massacre of the Innocents. And it ends with a section "Christmas Around the World", which examines traditions and customs of celebration in nine different countries, starting from the Middle East up to Poland, England, and Mexico.

The basis of the book is a large collection of stories, memories, and poems, ranging from Selma Lagerlöf, Boris Pasternak, Mark Twain, and William Shakespeare to Jules Supervielle, O. Henry, Betty Smith, and Isabella Mod Rittenhaus. A real find for book lovers will be the presented script of the cult Christmas TV opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors", which has won the love of its viewers from the first note. Famous verses and traditional Christmas carols are presented on the margins of book pages. The edition has an interesting illustrated design.

Dear friends, we invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the upcoming holidays together with this book! We are waiting for you until December 30th at the Circulation Desk of Foreign Literature (Turgeneva street 4, room 356).
