Lesson 19. International Periodicals Databases
As regards international databases of periodicals, a particular attention should be focused on Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus.
Web of Science is a comprehensive interdisciplinary research citation indexing platform helping you quickly find, analyze, and share information in all subject areas from 12 thousand scientific journals, 23 mln patents, 148 thousand annual conference proceedings, 2+ mln chemical structures, and 9+ thousand sites.
Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature delivering a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in all disciplines. In indexes 22+ thousand scientific technical and medicine journals from 5+ thousand international publishers (among them 450+ Russian ones).
RECOMMENDATION. Searching in international databases by keywords you should use contemporary terms. To select and translate keywords you can use online dictionaries and translators (for example, Multitran). It would be better to check your phrases by searching in WoS and Scopus. If there are a few results it could mean that your keywords are not used by our foreign researcher-colleagues and you’d better try other terms.
