Nikolsky Vladimir Vasilyevich (1836-1883). Professor of Russian literature, inspector of the Imperial Alexander Lyceum and the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy. Graduated from the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy with the title of Master of Theology. He was Professor at the Imperial School of Jurisprudence, Nickolas Orphan Institute, and the Commercial School. He also delivered lectures at the Women's Pedagogical Courses (1863-1882).
He served at the Lyceum for more than seventeen years (1866-1883). He taught Russian literature and logic. In 1865 to join the department of Russian literature at the Imperial Alexander Lyceum he had to pass a competition where, according to the decision of the Lyceum Council, he "demonstrated knowledge of philosophy and psychology and the gift of a living teacher." From 1867 he was professor extraordinarius of the Lyceum, later - secretary of the Lyceum Council (1879-1882), and from 1877 - inspector of the Lyceum classes.
The necrology published in “Moskovskiye Vedomosti” emphasized that: "Vladimir Vasilyevich had extensive general education, rich academic knowledge, subtle critical mind, an extraordinary gift for speech, and he inspired his students for interest and love for the studied discipline".
