In 2000, the Zonal Scientific Library of UrFU founded a series of biobibliographic textbooks "Outstanding University Scientists". Over the years, more than 20 scientific indexes have been prepared, reflecting the research and labor activities of famous scientists of the university.
Indexes include bibliographic descriptions of scientific papers, articles from periodicals, copyright certificates and patents, deposited manuscripts, and other works. Descriptions are prepared in accordance with national “System of standards on information, librarianship and publishing” standards. When preparing the manual, bibliographic and abstract traditional and electronic sources of information, full-text databases are used.
Biobibliographic indexes are equipped with an auxiliary apparatus.

In 2017–2021 UrFU Library has prepared a number of new biobibliographic indexes devoted to outstanding researchers of Ural Federal University.
