Kunitsyn Alexander Petrovich (1783-1840). Teacher of moral and political sciences at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum (1811-1820). He studied at the Saint Petersburg Pedagogical Institute, attended lectures in Germany and France. In 1811 he was promoted to the rank of Adjunct Professor of the Department of Moral Philosophy and Jurisprudence of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. A. S. Pushkin appreciated A. P. Kunitsyn more than all teachers. He dedicated poetic lines to him in a draft version of the poem "October 19":
We give our hearts and wine to Kunitsyn! He created us, He brought up our flame, The cornerstone was set by him, A pure lamp by him was inflamed... _____ Куницыну дань сердца и вина! Он создал нас, он воспитал наш пламень, Поставлен им краеугольный камень, Им чистая лампада возжена...
A. P. Kunitsyn is the author of the first textbook on moral sciences. In 1818, at the expense of the Lyceum, he published "Natural Law". Kunitsyn wrote: "The use of public power without any limitation is tyranny, and whoever produces it is a tyrant ..." The book was banned for use in educational institutions, the author was dismissed from the Lyceum in 1821. Later, A. P. Kunitsyn taught at the Pedagogical Institute, Corps of Pages. In 1826, at the request of M. M. Speransky, A. P. Kunitsyn was appointed to His Imperial Majesty's Chancellery, participated in the compilation of the Code of Laws. In 1838 he became an honorary member of Saint Petersburg University, since 1840 - director of the Department of Spiritual Affairs of Foreign Religions. Author of scientific papers on Russian law.
