Bezobrazov Vladimir Pavlovich (1828-1889). Academician, economist, journalist. Studying at the Moscow Institute of Nobility, he showed excellent results for which was transferred to the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum to further study at the expense of the state. He graduated from it in 1847 with a silver medal. He served in the Ministry of Finance and in the Office of the Ministry of State Property. In 1860 Bezobrazov became special assignments officer in the Ministry of Finance. He traveled a lot across Russia and abroad to study the economic situation of the regions and separate sectors of the economy. In 1867 V. P. Bezobrazov visited the Urals for an economic inspection of state-owned mining industry. This trip resulted in the book "The Ural Mining and the Question of Selling State Mining Plants" in 1869. In 1868 he was invited to the Imperial Alexander Lyceum to teach Financial Law and Political Economy giving four lectures a week, and stayed there until 1878.

V. P. Bezobrazov is the author of 24 scientific monographs and more than 90 publicistic articles, items, feuilletons in various periodicals. He edited the "Bulletin of the Imperial Geographical Society" (1857-1858) and "Collection of Statistical Information concerning Russia" (1858). In 1874-1880 he published an eight-volume "Collection of State Knowledge” compiled with participation of the best Russian lawyers.
