Lesson 26. Russian Specialized Journals

Knowledge of specialized peer-reviewed journals in your scientific category would definitely facilitate analyzing a flood of scholarly publications.

What shall I begin with?

Firstly, your academic adviser or more experienced colleagues are sure to know such journals. You can always ask them for help.
Secondly, you can find journals independently using РИНЦ (Russian Science Citation Index on eLIBRARY.RU).

PLEASE, NOTE: interface language in eLIBRARY is Russian only!

1. Open eLIBRARY.RU and register in the database and sign in thereafter.

2. In “Navigator” on the side bar choose the section “Journals”.

3. Fill in a query form by the following attributes: 1. the field “Tematika” (“Topic”) — choose a category presented in alphabetical order in a drop down menu, for example “Pedagogy”; 2. the field “Inclusion in to Russian Science Citation Index” — choose “indexed in Russian Science Citation Index”; 3. consistently check the boxes: “is currently published”, “only academic journals”, “is included into VAK list”; 4. the field “Sort by” — choose “sort by Science Index”; 5. click “Search” button (see Figure 1).

4. View search results and select the first 10-15 journals for further study. You can also create your personal selection through the option “Instruments” by checking necessary journals or “selecting all the journals on this page”, and then click “Add marked journals into selection” giving a name to the new selection.

5. The section “Chitatel” (“Reader”) is the most convenient way to work with your selection. It allows viewing separate journals as well as searching by means of the option “Articles search in the selected journals”.
Thus, it may be concluded that specialized peer-reviewed journals will essentially help you to monitor latest information on your research topic.
